What is British Tourism Week?
BTW is a week-long promotion to raise awareness of tourism to/within Britain, to improve its' competitiveness and to raise quality standards and skills in Britain.
When is British Tourism Week?
BTW took place from 10-18 March 2008 at various locations around the country - see Calendar of events. The dates for BTW 2009 will be confirmed shortly, please continue to check this site for further information.
Who is organising British Tourism Week?
VisitBritain, Reed Travel Exhibitions and UKinbound are co-ordinating this week-long promotion with the support of the Tourism Alliance, the Tourism Society and the regional and national tourist boards. Senior representatives from each organisation, together with other leading figures from the industry, sit on the BTW Executive Council. In addition, there is a Management Committee to manage BTW operations - see Governance for details.
Who is British Tourism Week aimed at?
BTW has a business-to-business and consumer focus for those involved in domestic and/or inbound tourism to Britain.
How do I get involved?
You can participate as a:
- delegate or speaker at the various conferences, seminars and workshops
- visitor at the British Travel Trade Fair
- exhibitor at the British Travel Trade Fair
- sponsor of one of the events during BTW
- organiser of your own tourism industry event under the BTW banner

NB If you are organising your own event and would like it to be included as part of the BTW promotion, please complete an event accreditation form and submit online.
Can I use the British Tourism Week branding?
This will be supplied to all participating industry events upon successful application. In addition, it may be used on your own website to link to the BTW website.

Why is BTW concerned only with domestic and inbound tourism?
BTW was conceived by its' supporting organisations to raise awareness of tourism to/within Britain, to improve its' competitiveness and to raise quality standards and skills in Britain. These organisations do not have a remit with regard to outbound travel from Britain.
