Background.
The Best Practice Forum – a strategic alliance of 10 of the Industry’s Trade Associations, and other industry partners, led by the British Hospitality Association (BHA) - launched a sectoral strand of “Business Interchange” to give College Teachers, Tutors and Trainers professional updating placements with employers in the hospitality industry. The aim is to “inspire” teaching staff, and help them learn about current industry best practice in the fast changing world of hospitality.
This initiative by the Best Practice Forum is being taken forward in partnership with Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), the Sector Skills Council for Further and Higher Education, together with The Professional Association for Catering Education (PACE), The Education and Catering Association (ECA) and a number of other industry partners. LLUK has provided a grant of £500 towards the cost of a placement, which can be of any length –from a day or two to a week or longer.
Teachers, tutors and trainers can achieve their Continuing Professional Development objectives through the programme: they will benefit from the most up-to-date experience and knowledge within their chosen field. Work-based placements with accredited Best Practice employers in the Hospitality Industry also help meet the Institute for Learning’s mandatory CPD requirements.
